1 Kingston & Polytechnic Harriers, Kingston 230pts
2 Oxford City AC 168pts
3 North Devon AC 158pts
4 Brighton & Hove AC 153pts
Fielding several of their British League team, Kingston and Polytechnic Harriers, using home venue to full advantage, were worthy winners of this last SAL meeting of the 2016 Track & Field season and looked to be the division's strongest team. NDAC finished 3rd after a four hour nail biting battle with both Oxford AC and Brighton AC - both clubs with memberships at least three times that of NDAC. So close was the mid table league placings going into this match that 4th place overall could well have seen NDAC in relegation trouble but eventual 3rd on the day ensured a very creditable upper mid table final position, a fantastic overall performance considering NDAC had three long journeys to London. Top individual NDAC performances on the day were Evee May Banbury's UK 7th ranked U17 Womens 2k Steeplechase of 7m31.4secs; Phil Norman's 400m Hurdles 57.4secs (UK 93rd for 2016), Emma Sharpe's pb Discus of 36.35m (2016 Ranked 16th in UK) and Nick Bennett's well judged win over 5000m in 16m06.3secs.

ENGLISH SCHOOLS CHAMPIONSHIPS:
Gateshead 8/9 July
Well done to all NDAC athletes who took part - as is always the case in competition at the highest level there were some outstanding performances as well as moments of anguish but the experience of competing in what is arguably one of the biggest meetings in the world - certainly in it's intensity with a huge programme of events crammed into just two days - is a very important part of an athlete's development.
There were two new NDAC records:
Under 17 Women:
Isabel Wakefield placed 3rd in the Long Jump with a NDAC record distance of 5.80m (=2.0w) while Maia Dart placed 6th in the Javelin with a club record 40.31m - superb efforts in difficult conditions!
Megan Gallagher finished a very creditable 6th from lane 8 in the U17 Womens 300 Hurdles with a time of 45.80secs
Evee May Banbury placed 10th in the U17 Womens 1500m Steeplechase in a personal best time of 5m21.30secs
Emma Sharpe placed 14th in the Discus with a distance of 30.80m - she will be in the same age group next year.
Caitlin Gallagher placed 18th in the Triple Jump with 10.45m (-0.6w)
Under 15 Girls:
Emily Tyrrell placed 11th in her Long Jump final with a distance of 4.98m (-1.6w)
Under 20 Women:
Martika Gallagher finished 11th in the 1500m Steeplechase in a time of 5m20.61secs

A depleted team fought hard to maintain their 4th position in this high quality league and came home from a very wet Bristol track at Stoke Gifford with a series of gutsy performances. Charlotte Sutton was very much back to form and was the pick of our spriters, Emily Tyrrell belied her tiredness with several wins, Megan Dewberry continues to improve in the throws, Daniel Redstone and George Jones shows plenty of potential as all round athletes in the U13 Boys, Adam Leeworthy displayed a range of distances, Millie Ayres had a superb pb over 1200m while Harriet Turner maintained her unbeaten run in this league. BUT - as ever this was a real team effort against much bigger clubs - well done everyone!
