The English Schools Championships is open to all pupils who on their school roll in May of the current School Year
There are three age group competitions for each of Male and Female pupils:-
Juniors: Under 15 - normally Years 8/9
Intermediates: Under 17 - normally Years 10/11
Senior: Under 19 - normally Years 12/13
Normally there is a progression of competitions which athletes must pass through. In Devon this is:-
1. Maytime: North Devon Schools Area Champs at Braunton Track (which leads to selection for the Area team) this also includes Minors: Under 13 - normally Year 7
2. Early June: Inter Area County School Championships a Exeter (which leads to county team selection) this also includes Minors: Under 13 - normally Year 7
3. Mid June: South West Schools Championships at Exeter (v. Avon, Cornwall, Dorset,Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and Somerset) this also includes Minors: Under 13 - normally Year 7
4. July: ESAA National Schools Championships at Birmngham Alexandra Stadium
